Life in a big city can really wear you down. The relentless pace of work and commuting is so constant, even social appointments can become a grind. Sometimes you just need to get away from it all. That’s why a group of friends and I decided to have a quiet weekend away in a cabin in the quaint, idyllic and appropriately named sleepy mountain town of Idyllwild.

A buoyant head high crept up slowly in my brain.

But even once you’ve left the urban landscape behind, it can be hard to shake the mental rat race and truly relax. To ensure my vacation was an actual escape from all of my earthly stresses, I also brought this RS-11 Diamonds and Live Resin infused joint by Space Coyote. It was a perfect way to take me and a few friends on a relaxing mental vacation—all the way to outer space.

The trip started with the least relaxing part of all: LA traffic. We battled the horrors of our suburban sprawl, construction detours, and inaccurate GPS directions for the better part of a day before finally making it out into the twisting mountain roads that lead to vacation land.

When we arrived, the Airbnb we booked was a bedroom short, leading to some fun hours spent on customer service. All this is to say, our weekend getaway was in dire need of something to break the tension of the weekend getaway that was supposed to break the tension. If that sentence sucked to read, imagine how the start of the weekend felt.

It was one of those moments where if any of us had been dads, we surely would have joked, “Man, I need a vacation from this vacation!” When things had finally settled, I gathered my cannabis loving pals for a meeting of the minds out on the porch.

I always love getting people to “work” with me because I can see them suddenly approach smoking with a whole new appreciation for the details and delicate qualities of the experience. We all passed around the skinny joint jar to take a whiff (I always appreciate the classiness of pre-rolls that come in glass, and that it's not a single use plastic). We wafted it below our noses like a wine glass, breathing in the soft, well-rounded aromas. We all agreed there was a strong peppery quality that was pungent and inviting, with warm, sweet citrus undertones.

I also knew that with all of the infusions in this puppy, and the general hefty size of it, that I was going to need backup to finish it. This little Space Coyote pup wasn’t fooling around, weighing in at a full gram with a whopping 67% total cannabinoids. Swimming in THC with just the tiniest pinch of CBD to give it that entourage-effect oomph (575.11 mg THC and 0.75 mg CBD), this checks all the boxes. And where flower generally taps out around 30%, the live resin and diamonds infused within make sure this doesn’t just gas you up, it charges you with pure rocket fuel.

As we passed the pre-roll around, the smooth smoke was a great companion to an easy conversation. The words flowed warmly as the high slowly crept up on us. It was one of those relaxed, uplifting highs where you don’t notice how elevated you are until you’re deep in the throes of an intense thought about the universe. I suppose there’s a reason they brought space into things. Out in the starry sky mountains, this coyote felt right at home.

The three of us got pretty toasty without even finishing it, leaving almost half of it to smoke again the next day. A buoyant head high crept up slowly in my brain as we talked; one that proved great for being both introspective and connecting with others.

‘High’ really did feel like the perfect description for the mental experience of this flower, as it took my brain to the kind of heights where you’re able to zoom out and gain a bigger perspective on the trivial problems of people. In the course of our herbally aided conversation, I figured out humanity.

The perfect way to unwind from my anger and anxiety while not completely unraveling.

I realized that everyone else in traffic and customer service hell with me that day was the same. We’re all just little people down here getting screwed over by failing infrastructure, while our rich government and corporate overlords take private planes and paid-for fast lanes. It helped me to shake off my road rage and see them as friends and not foes; to realize we were all just normal folks trying to have a nice Saturday. This little mental trip was the perfect way to unwind from my anger and anxiety while not completely unraveling.

My friend Krista was also inspired by the creative buzz. She brainstormed the brilliant idea that people who want to party at night (or sing karaoke like we were doing, which is arguably much worse) should install speakers on the outside of the house playing loud nature sounds to cover up the more annoying noises inside. A brand new way to rage on through the night without disturbing the neighbors, and another nod to how friendly and chill the vibes we were floating on were.

It was an excellently warm and social high. I wrote in my notes that it was, “Good for dinner, but not overly powerful with the munchies.” When I woke up with an upset stomach the next day and thought back to how many chips I ate the night before, perhaps the urge to munch was more powerful than I had realized.

This pre-roll is a perfect size to share with a friend or two, with a peaceful and social high that’s perfect for solving the world’s problems together. If you want to take a few pals on a trip to the outer limits of your collective consciousness, then this RS-11 Diamonds and Live Resin Infused Joint by Space Coyote is the perfect party favor for you.
