A birthday in Vegas wouldn't be the same without this edible.
For my 32nd birthday, I traveled with my sister, mom, and best friend for 48 hours in Las Vegas. The trip centered on exactly one activity: seeing Magic Mike Live. I have no shame in basing an entire trip—nay, an entire birthday—on a male strip revue. I’ve found that I give a lot fewer fucks in my thirties, and while most of the two days of activities consisted of drinking, dancing, and the aforementioned show, not all was quite so debaucherous. I still had to work in the mornings and went to the gym in the afternoons to burn off all that indulgent food and booze. And, being the stoner that I am, I also made time to enjoy a snack I brought along with me: Goodship’s Snickerdoodle Cookies.

The promised side effects, unwind and focus, both proved to be accurate. After waiting 30 minutes to digest and feel the high, I made good use of the hotel’s fitness center. Working out on the elliptical was fun and easy with all the good feelings that were pumping through me. The focus piece of the cookie’s effects came through strongly here as I was able to exercise for a while without distraction—save for the gorgeous setting sun I watched through the hotel window. The high tapered off by the time I went out to dinner, but the good vibes stayed with me all night as I toasted to my favorite women, thanked them for celebrating with me, and dug into a plate of pasta and a pizza. (It’s my birthday, I can eat two entrees if I want to.)

The next day’s cookie was something of a lifesaver. I don’t drink as much as I did in my twenties, so the four or five birthday drinks from the night before woke me up early with a hangover and a dull headache. After pounding coffee and working in the morning, I ate the cookie after brunch and promptly returned to my room for a nap. This is when the unwind effect delivered on its promise. I woke up from the nap still feeling sleepy and with not much of a high left, but I figured it couldn’t entirely disappear that quickly. Once I went back to the fitness center, the high and my energy returned. I was left feeling happy and ready for night two of birthday festivities.
Edibles are often hit or miss for me as they sometimes give me stomach cramps. The Goodship snickerdoodle never did that. It had no negative side effects and gave me all the positive effects it promised, in addition to being a tasty little birthday treat. Later that night, as the high wound down, I drank a margarita and went to see Magic Mike Live. I sat in the front row and practically lost my voice from cheering. I rode a euphoric feeling all night and into the next day, caused by the perfect combination of the snickerdoodle edible and some very attractive men. Happy birthday to me indeed.
