Achieve a state of calm or sink into a solid slumber with Kikoko’s Little Helpers.
IN REVIEW: This women-owned brand keeps breaking the mold in the
I haven’t been sleeping much this summer. This tends to happen from July through September when temperatures are at their highest. When you add to that my loud AC unit and sweet-but-always-noisy neighbors, you have a recipe for insomnia. I needed a solution in the form of 8 hours of rest and feeling refreshed in the morning. This frustration with my lack of beauty had me looking for something mellow and not too potent to avoid crazy dreams, but heavy enough to hit the spot. I’m susceptible to gnarly dreams during my REM sleep cycle, so not overdoing it is crucial.
I came across some mints by Kikoko, a women owned, San Francisco-based cannabis brand that specializes in infused teas. The two women founders have different backgrounds, but they came together to create a really refreshing company. They have several rules they run their business by, and I think they’re cool enough to share.
1. They don’t do business with assholes, people who are rude, condescending, disrespectful, flaky, patronizing, discriminatory, amoral or who mansplain. Right on, love that rule!
2. Equality for women.
3. Quality.
4. Generosity of Spirit.
5. When it all goes horribly wrong, laugh.
6. Make an impact!
Their prices might be a little up there, but their adherence to using only top-notch ingredients makes them worth it. Quality is important, especially when you're looking to treat yourself or better your health. They make their products by using organic, non-GMO, whole-plant herbs and outdoor grown cannabis, which is grown with organic and biodynamic farming methods. I always love to see cannabis flower grown free of chemicals and pesticides. Beyond their cultivation practices, they also have a foundation called Cynthia’s Sisters, “Which raises money to put girls through law school in the Democratic Republic of Congo.” Pretty cool! Kikoko’s line of products range from cannabis-infused teas and tinctures to their Little Helpers and honey shots. They have three options for their mints: Sleep, Calm and Focus. I chose to try the Sleep and Calm mints separately.
“They’d also be great for a yoga class, or really just anyone who’s looking for a gentle high. ”
The Calm Little Helpers have 5mg of
These are straight up microdosable chillness. As I started to feel the CBD and THC take effect, light waves of relaxation started to take the edge off. These mints seemed to calm me pretty fast. I felt a bit loungy, but not enough to actually snooze. They’d be great to keep in your bag for on-the-go moments of respite. They’d also be great for a yoga class, or really just anyone who’s looking for a gentle high. I think you could easily take a couple to feel a bit more sleepy, which could lead to some solid slumber and sweet dreams.
I was all amped up after a busy and stressful day, making it the perfect time to try the Sleep Little Helpers. They have 3mg
“As I sat in my reclining lounger, I started to feel my limbs relax, my eyelids soften and honestly, a huge amount of stress started to slip away.”
This little helper took effect almost immediately. It came through gently as I watched The Great British Baking Show. As I sat in my reclining lounger, I started to feel my limbs relax, my eyelids soften and honestly, a huge amount of stress started to slip away. My mind started to drift towards a drowsy zone. The effects started to get pretty potent, which was surprising considering that these mints are light in cannabinoid content. The feeling was not overpowering, but it did do the trick. I was pretty sleepy, and felt the need to get extremely cozy. I think I found what I was looking for. This Sleep Little Helper does exactly what it's supposed to. The combo of CBN, THC and melatonin will be my new go-to for getting a good night's rest. I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up I felt refreshed and ready for a new day ahead!
