Cann’s Pineapple Jalapeno Sparkling Social Tonic is a refreshing anecdote for desert malaise.
IN REVIEW: With 5mg of
As a pineapple purist, I’m surprised I enjoyed the taste of this sparkling social tonic as much as I did. I usually cringe at the notion of pineapple being mixed with anything, but the jalapeno really gave this drink the crisp bite it deserves. I threw this can in the cooler and headed out to the Antelope Valley to do a little ATV riding in the desert, and it proved to be refreshing on several levels.
“While it doesn’t pack much power, it’s a handy choice for microdosing.”
Like other Cann Social Tonics, the blend of ingredients is both complex and complimentary. The taste of sweet pineapple and jalapeno, along with a subtle infusion of 5mg of THC, was just enough to get me in the mood for some outdoor fun. It got hot early, and this drink came in handy for beating back the high desert heat. There was hardly a soul around, which made riding up dunes and exploring the terrain a much more liberating experience. The medicated beverage just added a new luster to the beigeness of the scenery. It worked to heighten the experience in such a way where I was overwhelmed with gratitude.
It wasn’t all communing with the desert spirit, however. I wasn’t Jim Morrison on peyote. The high came across as a subtle expression of good vibes that made having fun an effortless task. Just a low key buzz riding shotgun in a speeding ATV with nary a worry in the world. The onset was quick and came on almost all at once. It’s nice to be struck with a soothing high while you speed across the valley floor and lose yourself in the arid desolation.
I was reminded this was a social tonic during one of our many breaks when we met up with other riders at a picturesque overlook. We settled in for a time and gassed up on some food and drink. It was the perfect setting for frank talk and good jokes, and the Jalapeno Pineapple Hi Boy by Cann helped facilitate both.
“It supplied an ethereal sense of calm and curiosity that made for a memorable day.”
Each 12oz can contains 50 total calories, which may qualify it for being officially guilt-free. It makes a fine substitute for alcohol, but if need be it would also work as a quality mixer for your spirit of choice. There was a part of me that yearned for some tequila to complete the tableau of western frontiersmanship. To drink this Cann beverage warm would not do it justice. It’s best served chilled with like-minded friends. While it doesn’t pack much power, it’s a handy choice for microdosing. I found that it supplied an ethereal sense of calm and curiosity that made for a memorable day.
There is no reason why this beverage wouldn’t pique your interests no matter where you take it. While I drank it before going out on an hours-long drive in the desert, I could see myself enjoying this at the beach, camping, or just at a backyard BBQ with coolers full of the stuff. The side effects are minimal to non-existent, and thus these would be a fine choice for any edible beginner. Just as long as you aren’t slugging back a sixer.
It’s amazing what some fresh air and 5mgs can do for your psyche, but I can say that whatever it was that was rankling me in the morning was no longer present once medicated. I would recommend this sparkling drink any time of day. While it wasn't particularly energetic, it wasn’t tiring either. I found that it worked well as a hybrid drink that helped balance the mind and free the spirit.
