This sweet joint offers a social boost and spark of creativity, making it perfect for creating something cool with people you dig.
IN REVIEW: This infused
Picture this: A college-aged girl walks along aging cobblestone roads, beneath hanging Spanish moss, coffee cup in hand, crisp autumnal winds nipping at exposed skin. She finds her way to the studio where she’ll get to work on a weekend painting while her peers work on projects of their own. The only thing missing? Far Out’s Grape Infused Pre-Roll.
“Great for taking the edge off of any minor aches or pains without adding a sleepiness or heaviness.”
While I’m no longer wandering the cobblestone-filled squares of Savannah, nor would I be considered college-aged by even the loosest of definitions, I once was, and oh how I wish I could’ve added this grapey goodness to my Saturday sessions way back when. Instead, I’ll have to settle for enjoying it in the here-and-now.
This pre-roll comes ready to smoke in a cute little pink zip bag adorned with an intergalactic space cat, a design choice I thoroughly enjoy. As soon as you rip the zip bag open, your olfactory system is greeted with a powerful aroma of sweet grape candy. Light it up to transition that sweet grape smell to a delicious flavor that fills your mouth and coats your taste buds in a playground of purple-candy nostalgia. As I took a few deep hits, I also noticed earthy notes and just a hint of pepper. It might sound like a weird combination with the sweet grape, but it somehow all works together. Smokability-wise, this one teeters on the edge of comfortable and harsh—I wouldn’t go so far as to say it hits hard, but it’s definitely a little harder than ideal.
As the high started to settle in, I almost immediately appreciated my choice to smoke this one with a close friend and my boyfriend. The high is a noticeably social one, which if you suffer from social anxiety like I do, is a great option to have on hand for less familiar gatherings. While I of course feel comfortable with her and my boyfriend both, the added social spark undoubtedly added to the hangout session. My friend and I found ourselves engaging in tons of playful and energetic banter.
Body-wise, the high somehow managed to be simultaneously relaxing and arousing. In one respect, my body felt soothed and comforted, yet alert and somewhat energized. One clear point of difference between this and a lot of other pre-rolls I typically reach for is that the body high felt more like smooth, steady, comforting waves, as opposed to a buzz or a tingle. Great for taking the edge off of any minor aches or pains without adding a sleepiness or heaviness. I noticed that my senses were slightly enhanced, suddenly far more aware of a crisp chill in the air, and how goddamn delicious the guacamole I made a few minutes prior was. That said, at no point during the high, nor when I relit the joint a few days later, did I experience any amount of munchies, which I’m especially prone to. In fact, my partner told me it actually kind of killed his appetite, so something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to appetite effects.
To get back to the head high, where this joint really shines, in addition to the social boost, I found myself feeling creatively inspired. My friend and I started exchanging a few of our favorite illustrators on Instagram, discussing various elements we loved in each. This beautiful blend of creativity and socialness leads me to believe this would be a stellar option for any kind of social art hangout, whether that’s your typical illustrator drink-and-draw, or as my young college self would often enjoy, a shared studio session. I felt myself itching to reach for my iPad, or even traditional materials like a stick of charcoal or paintbrush.
“Mentally I felt a warm, comforting glow, and an almost mythical energy. ”
Mentally I felt a warm, comforting glow, and an almost mythical energy. It gave me distinct Miyazaki vibes. The combination of friendly social feelings, creative inspiration, and a hint of magic paired with the cool breeze filling my kitchen is probably exactly why this high reminds me of my time at art school in Savannah. The city is filled with history and mystery, and bursting at the seams with creative creatures. And, in my humble opinion, is particularly lovely in the fall. And thus why I would love to have the chance to enjoy Far Out’s grapey jay in a quiet, moss-covered Savannah square.
Which, needless to say, is extremely specific. So fear not, I’m happy to report that while that sounds particularly personally enjoyable, my experience with this joint in sunshiney Los Angeles was plenty fantastic. So whether you’re hanging out with friends, getting down and dirty with some art supplies, or some combination of the two, Far Out’s Grape Infused Pre-Roll is sure to enhance whatever experience you’re after.
