IN REVIEW: For classic sugar cookie flavor with a spicy cinnamon twist, Big Pete’s Treats hits the mark with flair. Infused with just the right amount of
If you know me, then you know my deep and undivided love of all things cookie. We’re talking snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin, triple-chocolate, gingerbread, hell, even biscotti—but perhaps above all else, I love weed-infused cookies.
So when I discovered Big Pete’s Treats Sativa Cinnamon and Sugar Mini Cookies, I was obviously brimming with excitement to try them. Even though I was chomping at the bit to tear open the package of sugary goodness, I waited until the perfect, edible-worthy moment.
I typically only indulge in an
“After the cinnamon begins to dissipate, it gives way to a mellow sweetness and a hint of buttery flavor. ”
So the time had come for these sugar cookies to work their medicinal magic. I grabbed one silver dollar-sized cookie out of the bag, and admired the shimmery surface covered in flecks of cinnamon. It had a sandy feeling in my hand that reminded me of the cookies I would get from the grocery store after school—a treasured memory that left my mouth watering.
Trying to show some restraint, I ate about half of the cookie in a single bite. I chomped down on the chewy yet crunchy cookie, and was surprised by the amount of spice that it had. At first, the cinnamon is the loudest and most prominent flavor that surprises your palate in the most pleasant way. I typically find that sugar cookies are too meek with cinnamon flavor, so I appreciated the punch.
But that’s not to say that this cookie wasn’t loaded with the smooth sugary sweetness that you might expect from a sugar cookie. After the cinnamon begins to dissipate, it gives way to a mellow sweetness and a hint of buttery flavor. Noticeably absent from this delicious flavor profile however, was any strange weediness—a very solid cookie if I do say so myself. The flavors then lingered in my mouth for just a moment before gently fading away, like it never happened.
Resisting the urge to overdose myself, I finished up some work for the day and waited for the effects to kick in. After about an hour, I shut my laptop, plopped on the couch and began to scroll through local taco shops—it was a Tuesday, and I never miss a Taco Tuesday. As I scrolled through photo after photo of tasty-looking tacos, I began to notice my stomach growl with anticipation, signaling that my high had crept in.
Being that these cookies were infused with sativa, I not only had a taste for a good meal, but I also felt energized and mindful of the present moment. I decided to walk to my local taco spot so that I could enjoy a nice high stroll. I slipped on my shoes, grabbed a jacket, and headed out into the world with an uplifted attitude. As I walked down the street, I took the time to enjoy the sights and sounds around me.
“All my stress from the day had completely melted away.”
Everyone seemed to be rushing home from work while I leisurely made my way down the road, soaking in the moment with a slight smile stretched across my face. The chilly night air breezed through my hair, as the last lingering rays of sun warmed my face. It was like my mind was active, alert, and focused while my body relaxed into the night. My muscles unwound from their tight holding place, and soon felt limber and loose.
When I finally arrived at the taco shop, I was overcome by the tasty scents and smells, and quickly grabbed my food. My stomach, now growling like some kind of lion with a fresh kill, encouraged a more hurried pace on my way back home. My euphoria reached its peak as I tore open my bag of tacos, and the spicy smell of well-seasoned food filled my apartment. I took a pause before diving in to admire this new uplifted state of mind. All my stress from the day had completely melted away—almost as quickly as I devoured those tacos.
Overall, Big Pete’s Mini Cinnamon and Sugar Cookies delivered a happy yet mellow high that allowed me to unwind when I needed it most. I recommend giving these spicy yet sugary cookies a try anytime you need a sweet pick-me-up or mini moment of relaxation.
