In Review: Super Silver Haze is a premium
When I first moved to Los Angeles, there was a dispensary I would frequent. Coming from the east coast, it was a trip walking in and seeing the sheer amount of
The word play was funny, but it also reflected a real movement in the marijuana community to update its culture. They weren't just pot smokers anymore, they could be connoisseurs. The same way people like wine or whiskey, marijuana users could enjoy the nuances of consuming it. Early on, people scoffed at this idea and dismissed it as a rebranding of pot heads, but time has shown they were wrong as smoking weed has begun to get the legitimacy it deserves.
“The Super Silver Haze Cartridge from Select rewards those connoisseurs who like nuanced highs.”
The Super Silver Haze Cartridge from Select rewards those connoisseurs who like nuanced highs, but it also has something to deliver for the casual smoker. On one hand, it’s relatively easy to sum up this high: you’re going to relax. It’s immensely enjoyable on that level. This is a high that’s perfect for popping on your favorite movie, or playing a video game with friends. It’s mellow, relaxing, and light. However, it’s incredibly rewarding when you dive into the subtleties of this high. The balance of mellowness and energy, how it softens the edges of the outside world without completely dulling your senses or slowing you down. These are the signs of a well made product.
I was working on creative endeavors for the bulk of the high. It came on quickly, as
Part of the allure of vaping is the convenience and portability. It tends to lead towards the habit of taking a puff every so often, and it’s a marathon, not a sprint. With this vape, I found it incredibly easy to maintain a perfect high that felt balanced and gave me just the right amount of what I wanted. When I would start to come down, I could simply take a couple of puffs and be right back to where I found that same silver, hazy cloud I had before. I spent the better part of the day slugging away at work and errands, all the while puffing and keeping up that relaxing energy.
“Just be warned that if you have Oreos in the house, they may be gone soon after you get high.”
As day turned to eve, the munchies started to kick in. I’m incredibly susceptible to munchies, especially from mellow strains like this, so user experience may vary. Just be warned that if you have Oreos in the house, they may be gone soon after you get high. After eating dinner and finally deciding to turn in, I took one last puff, put on a Mystery Science Theatre, and jumped in bed. In this context, the high felt completely new. Different subtle details began revealing themselves, shaping the high and transforming it into something fresh. I felt like my brain was powering down, but in the most rewarding way. I was off the clock now, time to laugh like an idiot until I fell asleep. And so I did.
In a lot of different industries, there’s a growing appreciation for the artisan. As much as it can be a meme, or be downgraded to be “hipster B,” I see it as a movement of people taking pride in what they create and consume. “They don’t make them like they used to,” is a fact, they truly don’t. Everything has been automated with built in obsolescence to maximize the margin. But the “used to” in that phrase, that is; how they used to make things, is how the artisan today makes them.
Laugh all you want at the bearded hipster who is “waaaaay too” into his Chemex coffee apparatus, or the region the bean is from, but that is the “used to.” Things used to be made with care, made by people who cared about the product. All hail the return of the artisan, and the new age of nuance, subtly, refinement, and care.
