IN REVIEW: Circa is a premium indoor flower from STIIIZY that tastes of subtle herbs and pine, and it will instantly pick you up and put you in a better place. A focusing sativa that’s great for household chores or outdoor activities, you can expect a social and easygoing high that will put a pep in your step and leave you ready and willing for whatever lies ahead. And while this flower tests at 31.66%, the high-THC content didn’t lead to a high-octane experience that could elicit anxiety. It was simply a fun and manageable high perfect for daytime use.

On a weekend getaway to San Diego with friends, I was looking for a strain that packed energy and euphoria. Circa LIIIT flower by STIIIZY fit the bill nicely. The dense buds became my go-to smoke each time I wanted to inject a bit of excitement into my day. Circa also gets high marks as a flower you can easily socialize with, so don’t let the 31.66% THC scare you. This is a smooth ride with few bumps to speak of.

Normally I’ll smoke from a bong, but like many, I find myself often needing a joint when I’m on the go or heading out of town. I rolled several for this particular weekend, and enjoyed one as soon as my posse and I arrived at the hotel in San Diego. (I don’t actually have a posse. It was just me, my neighbor, and a couple of old high school pals.)

We smoked the Circa flower in the parking lot as we basked in the beautiful San Diego climate—and it wasn’t long before we trekked over to the beach for some fun in the sun. The waves were legit, and everything just seemed more electric and vibrant. Lots of laughs were had, and I felt that I could have laid in that sand for eternity. I truly felt at peace with the world, and all the stress that had been bottling up inside me just seemed to steadily dissipate.

The real fun came later on when the friends and I hit up a Padres game. We had our second parking lot joint of the day not too far from the stadium. I remembered previously thinking that once marijuana was legalized I’d never have to suffer the indignity of hiding in a parking lot somewhere to enjoy a nice outdoor ‘J’, but I find that has not been the case. I feel that even though cannabis is ubiquitous these days, we are still manifestly beholden to our old peccadillos.

But however you want to slice it, I know that from the moment we finished that Circa joint to the moment we took our nosebleed seats, we did not stop laughing. It carried on that way pretty much through the end of the game, which is a testament to the longevity of this flower. 

It just meshed with the environment we were in, and added to the electricity of the large crowd. It wouldn’t even have mattered if the Padres lost. We just kept good company all day long, and that was in no short part due to the outgoing nature of this high.

The score of the game really just became background noise at a certain point. What mattered was the totality of the experience, and this strain helped me experience the present moment with a greater level of awareness. My mind felt free from obsessing over minutiae and I didn’t feel the need to categorize everything I see. In that sense it is a big picture sort of high.

And as someone who doesn’t like to mix cannabis and booze, I decided I’d throw myself a curve ball this time around and just get stoned before the start of the game instead of getting drunk all nine innings. Like a self experiment. Not only did it make for a fun time, I found that it was also a lot cheaper than spending half a year’s income on two large beers. 

Plus, when I get to drinking at most sporting events I tend to get too team-territorial and say things that get me into trouble. With this Circa flower on the other hand, I didn’t get wound up about anything at all. I was at maximum chill and pretty much stayed along those confines. That meant I couldn’t be bothered with personalities or pettiness.

Ultimately I felt that this high was at once deeply soothing, but also capable of releasing boundless amounts of joy. Just a simple walk in the sand felt transportive, and the overall feeling was a balanced and upbeat one. I am sure to revisit this sativa from STIIIZY in more parking lots, beach spots, or ball games. Circa whenever that may be…
