IN REVIEW: This
The Apricot Jelly Pre-Roll by Baker’s Cannabis Co. contains one gram of smooth-hitting
I struck gold on two levels. 1.) I soon started floating to the dog park, and 2.) I was the only one there, giving me the ability to let my dog run free as I took a seat under a shady tree and let my own mind roam.
“These fleeting moments of pure gratitude became the best part of the experience.”
This high just made the world appear even bigger to me. It was as if I’d somehow been trapped inside a scaffolding of bones, and with the help of this Apricot Jelly joint I was led to a secret room where I was able to look out towards an ever-expanding land and feel at once inspired and humbled.
These fleeting moments of pure gratitude became the best part of the experience. I soon had the overwhelming feeling that I wanted to get back home and create something. So I threw the frisbee one last time and my dog gave chase. On his run back towards me he decided to dive-bomb my legs, which led to me being taken out on the wet grass. I laid there for a second and found myself on my back, staring up at the clouds. It’s always a good place to be when you’re high, and it’s a nice reminder that chaos still reigns supreme. I could only laugh. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, as the four guys playing basketball across the park also appreciated my being tackled.
I felt that wave of creativity intensify when I got home, so I went on YouTube and looked for some drawing tutorials. On a previous high, I’d purchased some art supplies online and was now expected to use them. (After all, I couldn’t have my wife accuse me of wasting money while stoned.) I tried to follow along, but it was soon clear that I was in over my head. I began to get frustrated because the drawing of a human face on the YouTube video looked to be that of a pure angel, and mine resembled more of a sad, half-alien creature. I decided to smoke the rest of the joint and tell myself that the Sistine Chapel wasn’t built in an afternoon. I then began organizing my colored pencils and large erasers because this high was bringing out my OCD. Also, I’m apparently a child now.
“This high got me to a place where I just let myself create and do what comes naturally.”
I decided to shut off the online instructional and just “wing it.” This high was no pushover, and I wasn’t altogether geared for paying attention. Instead, I just started doodling and entered a zone where something unrecognizable eventually took the form of something that was not altogether terrible. The important thing is that this high got me to a place where I just let myself create and do what comes naturally to a mind that, at the time, had the spigot wide open.
The final product was a brightly colored hodgepodge of spur-of-the-moment meanderings that made me feel strangely fulfilled. I briefly considered cutting my ear off as a sign of tortured artistic genius, but instead I settled in to play some Xbox. Ultimately, I fell into a deep relaxation on what was the tail end of a wide ranging high.
This is the sort of one-gram joint you can finish in one session without the fear of being transported to the moon, but it also won’t have you wondering, “Where’s the beef?” Its signature trait was the way it helped me tap into my creativity while gaining an appreciation for my surroundings. Also, this joint offers a first rate high to play with your dog. I just wished he could catch an actual frisbee.
