Drift Away On A Down Day
Weekenders’ Drift Pack will help you cruise through the weekend.
In Review: Weekenders’ Drift Pack is the sort of blend you need when you’re looking to settle down, or settle into a chiller state any time of day. With a 1:4 CBD to THC cannabinoid concentration, you get the benefits of the entourage effect for a balanced buzz that won’t take you too far. But don’t think that means this isn’t a high that still makes its presence known. Just as perfect for those new to cannabis as it is the seasoned stoner, pick up a pack and pass them out in your smoking circle to put everyone on cruise control.
I must admit I was a little excited when I saw the name on the pack of these Drift Pre-Rolls. Weekenders…considering the week that I had just finished, I was ready for it. Let me start off by saying that I typically don’t smoke joints by myself. I would be more inclined to share one with some friends, but this may have changed my perception on that.
The first thing that I noticed with this product was the professional look and feel of the package, and one of the things that stood out was the separation of the joints to keep them in proper smoking condition.
I must say that I was a little surprised that the package stated, “High THC.” I was aware that CBD was part of the experience, but I was curious, and ready to learn what they meant by “high.”
“The first thing that I noticed with this product was the professional look and feel of the package.”
Said box also stated that each joint was professionally rolled, and they did not disappoint as far as that’s concerned. At first glance, I noted seven perfectly rolled joints, each secured separately in its own little silo.
Not familiar with the “Wedding Cake” strain, I found the fact that it is known for pain relief and increased perception very enticing. I had just started a new high-stress sales position, and I could feel the tension building—starting in my lower back before it made its way up my neck and head.
I was also dealing with a few sports injuries that had started acting up with my return to the gym. So needless to say I was hoping the pain-relief promise would come into play just as much as the euphoria and calming effects.
My first session with one of these beauties was on a brisk Saturday morning around 10:30. I had just returned from the gym after a two-hour workout, and after making and taking my breakfast down I sat outside and lit my beautifully rolled Weekenders joint.
Another thing to note, I was struck by the length of the filter, and I found this to be one of the highlights of the experience as it truly created a great flow from my very first hit. As I sat back and let the smoke surround me I started to settle into a more calm state.
This was my first experience smoking a joint balanced by CBD, and the CBD-rich Shakti Flower created more of a smokey taste rather than the typical fresh-cut flavor one often associates with a pure Wedding Cake strain. I usually wouldn’t smoke an entire joint to myself (I have not done that since college), so I only made it through 40% of tis one my first session.
The soft waves of calm started to come more steadily, and I was floating roughly around the 15-minute mark. As I mentioned, I have had thoughts swirling around my head between work, family, Ukraine, etc. All of this seemed muted for the first time all week. And as the session progressed, I realized that my shoulder and hip felt a little bit better. As I continued, so did the relief.
About 30 minutes into my high I felt the aforementioned euphoria start to settle in. However, considering the mention of “High THC” on the package, I thought maybe this would be a creeper that would hit me later in the morning.
“It never put me in a state where I was too high to handle my daily routine.”
The strong head high I felt when I started my session was gradually evolving into more of a body high, which doubled down on the calmness and pain relief I was experiencing. This continued for about two hours, and never put me in a state where I was too high to handle my daily routine.
I was a little shocked by this, but in a good way. I was really expecting to have a much stronger and deeper high considering what I have heard about this strain. It was nice that it didn’t bog you down and give you the typical grogginess that can be associated with higher doses of THC.
It was about 2:30 pm (4 hours since my first session) and it was time to go for a run. I’ve been experiencing pain in my left hip for two years now, and while I have been doing a good amount of physical therapy, this was the best I’d felt on a run in a few months. I don’t know if I can attribute that to the CBD flower, but it’s hard to think it didn’t help.
From the look and feel of the package to the professionally rolled joints, the experience was perfectly pleasant with the Weekenders Drift Pre-Roll. I was truly impressed with the pain relief and calmness associated with my high, and I am looking forward to the revisiting it again soon when my aches act up yet again.
